Teriyaki Sauce_Ingredients

Ingredients:

(yields around 325ml of sauce)

  • 125ml regular soy sauce (ideally, you buy a brand that guarantees natural fermentation)

  • 100ml Mirin (a Japanese rice wine, similar to sake)

  • 100ml cooking sake (or similar cooking wine)

  • 30-45g white sugar, depending on your taste and the sweetness of the mirin you use

Instructions:

  1. Pour the measured soy sauce, mirin, and sake into a pot and add the sugar.

  2. Over medium heat, continuously stir the mixture until the sugar is fully dissolved (5-7 minutes). Do not boil.

  3. Transfer to a container of your choice (we keep ours in a plastic squeeze bottle with a lid) and keep it in your pantry.

Note: This sauce will keep for several months and it does not need to be refrigerated.

Enjoy!
